I was just looking at Google news to see if there were any articles about the entry of the United states into World war one, naturally there were but I came across this in the Cambridge city journal from 1917

Russia
Why did seventeen Russians randomly pile onto this blog this weekend?
Were they looking for details re the DDR?
Were they looking for something to do with the lunar mission called Ranger 8?
Was there was a documentary about Ossie Garvin?
Leave us a comment cos I would love to know :)

Sheffield Catherdral
One of the chapels at Sheffield cathedral yesterday. I took loads of pictures but this is the only decent one. Stained Glass windows are seemingly very hard to photograph

Limping along
Well it is January...this blog limps along like a limpy thing. I will be updating it more but not every day, just with things I like as a bit of a hobby from time to time. Most of it will be Bible based but not always.
Anyway in the past year I did actually get to go to Stuyvenburgh station in Brussels (and yes I found the statues of the Belgian Royal family more than a little creepy)

There is no substitute for going there, for one thing you get a real sense of atmosphere what with the smell of damp mixed with the smell of sugar (no really, it must be those waffles)
Anyway for more information about the Belgian Royals have a look at this in depth website

Starting something new
Earlier this month I started to read the whole bible through, a chapter a day. I did this when I was a teenager but now, what with Google images and crosswalk things are so much easier. I thought I would try and post a image a day which captures the feeling of that chapter for me plus some random bits and bobs, some bible based and some not.

Love Wins
Love wins ministries is a charity that helps homeless people out in Raleigh, North Carolina. I was introduced to the organisation when their Pastor gave a talk to Revolution church in NYC
They are there, on the frontline doing what Jesus would have done

Katy Kopycat
Katy Kopycat was toy of the year in 1971 but until I read Schotts Almanac 2006 I had never heard of it. Basically it was a doll that copied your writing, there is very little about her on the Internet (nothing on ebay or wikipedia) and yet she sold loads? How can something so very popular be so forgotten?

Sodor
The wonderful island of Sodor, home of Thomas the tank engine and his mates! Invented by the Rev Awdry to cheer up his son after a dose of measles.

Rolf

Just how talented is this man? He sure can paint, he knows what to do with a digeredoo,
helps kids to swim, heals sick animals and used to hang with the Beatles

Junction 22 M1
If you are travelling on the M1 there is a cornucopia of really nice country parks off Juntion 22 which I can really recommend for a picnic. Its seems odd that this part of Leicestershire should be so rugged but there you go.
Altar Stones (watch out for the longhorn cattle)
Hill Hole Quarry (Sadly I cannot find many links but it is totally awesome, check out the stunning views from the Toposcope, you can see all the way to the Rugby Aerials, 25 miles away
Billa Barra hill, lovely views is that Birmingham in the distance though?
Bardon hill Extraordinary place , you can see from Wales to Lincolnshire from this Marilyn
So stop off, its either this or being ripped off at Leicester Forest East services

Anti BNP
Is very hard to decribe in words how very very much I loath the BNP (an no I am not linking to them). There is a concert going on in Rotherham tonight to protest against them.
These guys are doing a good job exposing them.
As are these
And these guys as well
And if you think the BNP is a lovely cuddly organisation look up a website called Redwatch, again no link.
